Sustainable Practices of Circular Economy in Operations Management (SPCEOM)
Growing environmental awareness, environmental legislation and the need for social responsibility has led organizations to look for new ways to do their business (Kumar et al., 2018). Now all kind of businesses have stated to think to adopt sustainable practices in their operations so that they can show their commitment toward environment and society (Murray et al., 2017) and make their business long time sustainable (Garza-Reyes et al., 2018). This adoption leads to switch from our current industrial “linear” model to a circular economy (CE), contributing to a more environmentally responsible and socially equal society (Mangla et al., 2018). Sustainable practices of circular economy in operations management can contribute to achieve the sustainability in the business holistically (Bressanelli et al., 2018; Batista et al., 2018). Both developing and developed nations are paying attention on this direction; however, still lots of research efforts are required even China initially passed a law on CE, which was followed by the European Union (Su et al., 2013; Kirchherr et al., 2017; Esposito et al., 2018; Ali et al., 2018; Reike et al., 2018).
The objective of this SI is to understand holistically the concept of CE and related principles/practices/techniques in various area of operations management. This Special Issue (SI) seeks to advance the understanding about sustainable practices of circular economy in operations management is the way to achieve the sustainability; to explore how CE can be implemented; and the clarification on the implications (i.e. theoretical and practical) for sustainable business development.
The main objective of this SI is to encourage the scholars, academicians, and industries experts to contribute their latest research knowledge and experience in improving sustainability in their respective working sector through CE, principles, practices and strategies.
The potential topics for the SI include (but not limited):
To find the drivers/enablers/critical success factors and problems/barriers/challenges of adopting sustainability practices for circular economy in operation management.
To identify the intensity of influence of sustainability indicators by multi criteria decision making approaches.

To analyze the interaction of quality management tools/techniques and sustainability for effective execution of circular economy.
To determine the role of human capital in effective adoption of sustainability practices for circular economy in operation management.
To develop sustainability orientated framework for enhancing circular economy adoption.
To identify the performance indicators for adopting sustainability practices in operation management.
To measure the impact of organization performance after adopting circular economy operational practices.
To measure the role of circular economy operational practices for achieving holistic sustainability of the organization.
